You Got Served: Adrianna Adarme, A Cozy Kitchen

Dine X Design | You Got Served | A Cozy Kitchen

Adrianna, A Cozy Kitchen, is a Los Angeles based food writer, recipe tester and in our opinion...one chic lady. An expert in making comfort food cute, we thought she would be the perfect addition to the You Got Served project with her ability to showcase a bight and cheerful perspective in every photo she takes.

Style aside (both on the plate and in her closet), We want to eat everything she posts on her blog (hello breakfast!), laugh out loud when she tweets about her expensive juice habit getting out of control and look forward to her daily instagram photos that make us hungry... and seriously considering adding an adorable corgi to our kitchen asap.

Basically we just want to go out on an ice cream date with her and figure out how to be as equally charming.

Do you have a routine or game plan when it comes to styling with props for your photos?

I'd say I go in with a loose plan. I write a shot list at the beginning of a shoot and pull props depending on those shots' needs. Usually it's pretty organic, i.e., which linen do I think goes best with the food, what kind of mood am I in, is there something new that I've purchased that I'm super excited about, etc.

What's your Serving Style? Brand new/on trend, unique vintage originals, particular colors?

I'm typically drawn to props that are similar to how I dress…haha. I like mixing highs and lows and old and new. I'd say when it comes to texture, linen is my favorite--it's pliable and makes pretty waves. My goal is to make it feel warm, casual and how it'd look if I invited you over for dinner. I don't like too many props or food to look overly messy, which I think looks really fake. And when it comes to color, I'm a sucker for neutral tones and desert rose/blush.

Do you have a favorite piece in your collection? What's the story behind it?

Ah yes! This is my second semester taking ceramics and I absolutely love it--it's become so useful. Some of my favorite little bowls are ones I've made, which makes me super excited (even though they're completely imperfect). This one is maybe my favorite because the lip is thin and purposefully crooked.

If you could get a hold of any item for your kitchen or tabletop, what do you currently have your eye on?

I have my eye on these pink and red Ben Medansky mugs that he sells exclusively at this coffee shop I go to after my workout, Go Get 'Em Tiger. Every time I go in there, I swear they're begging for me to buy a pair. I'll break down one of these days.

Adrianna's use of mixed textures is one tasteful and sophisticated way to plate donuts - which by the way were already perfect looking on their own...and delicious. Who can resist a donut left unattended!? No one.

We loved watching her play around with different fabrics and seeing the thought process unfold on her marble slab. Just like the styling on her website, Adrianna's look here is clean, confident, undeniably chipper and allows the food to take center stage. Bravo we say...and fancy donuts for everyone!

Be sure to check out the A Cozy Kitchen website for delicious bites, twitter for amusing insights and a little behind the scenes on instagram! Oh, if you're into pancakes...then you're going to love her cookbook. Get on it!
