You Got Served: Jake Harrison, Studio Jake

Jake Harrison, the dapper talent behind interior styling service Studio Jake & swoon-worthy online marketplace Isosceles, has a certain effortless flair that screams California Desert Mod. Which is funny since he only recently relocated to Los Angeles from New York a few short years ago.

But the glamorous desert vibe is strong in this one...and we want to wrap ourselves up in all of it! No really, our living rooms, offices, dining nooks...we want it all to have his modern vintage touch.

When Jake accepted the You Got Served challenge we were giddy with anticipation to see what he would conjure up. Let's just say he dove into Mystery Pop Box #004 without breaking a sweat and delivered his signature style with graceful ease.

It's casual California bungalow chic at its best...and it's divine.

You Got Served...by Studio Jake.

Do you have a routine or game plan when it comes to styling with props for your photos?

When styling for myself or others, I always try to create a story behind the image. Who is this person? What are they doing? What time is it? Then I pull props accordingly. There’s always variances that happen on location, so you have to be adaptable. Bringing extra props is always a good idea and I always try to keep a nice balance of vintage and new props in the mix.

What's your Serving Style? Brand new/on trend, unique vintage originals, particular colors?

I’m more of a rustic, neutrals kinda guy. For me, I think the most important elements are the food being served and the guests in your home, so I tend to gravitate towards muted colors and bring in layers of texture to keep it interesting. Nature is always an inspiration, so you can bet I’ll have some branches, succulents and geodes scattered about. And canvas drop cloths make the BEST tablecloths.

Do you have a favorite piece in your collection? What's the story behind it?

I love my set of large nesting bowls from Lawson-Fenning. They are hand glazed porcelain and look great on their own as objects, but are even better when loaded up with delicious things. They are always on my counter, so I get to see them on a daily basis.

If you could get a hold of any item for your kitchen or tabletop, what do you currently have your eye on?

Most likely a SMEG refrigerator. In black. But then a separate freezer elsewhere as I have a slight ice cream addiction and apparently no one at SMEG shares this problem as the freezers are TINY.

OR

An industrial 6 burner/2 oven range. When I entertain, I go ALL out so having the extra cooking capacity would be awesome.

If you could express your personal style in 3 emjois, what would they be?

A broken cube by Sol LeWitt.

A chunk of Pyrite.

And burning incense.
