Naked Juice & Wholesome Wave: Drink Good Do Good
I realize at times that I live in a bubble.
Even though I grew up in the midwest, I now find myself driving through Los Angeles unfazed by streets closed down for film shoots and the occasional Jon Hamm spotting at brunch. Which don't get me wrong, I'm laughing out loud as said things are happening because it is absolutely ridiculous out here in La La Land.
But what about being in a food bubble...and those who might live in a food desert? Are we also taking for granted the quality of grocery stores a stone's throw from our homes and the famers markets happening multiple times a week?
I am incredibly fortunate to have amazing fresh and local produce walking distance from my house and sadly, there are millions of people in America without access to fresh and affordable fruit and veg. In fact, I recently learned that in South Los Angeles (not too far from me!) there is only one grocery for about every 22,000 residents. Which seems impossible with the amount of Trader Joe's and Whole Foods being built in other parts of the city.
And it's not just Los Angeles. It's happening in New York, Portland, Denver, Chicago.... ALL OVER THE PLACE.
Which is why I'm happy to be partnering with Naked Juice to spread word on how you can help!
...and trust me, it's something you're already doing today...maybe even two or three times.
By taking one photo of you holding a piece of produce and using the hashtag #DrinkGoodDoGood Naked Juice will donate TEN POUNDS of fresh produce to Wholesome Wave helping families and communities in need.
TEN POUNDS of fresh fruit and veggies for one instagram photo!? I mean, talk about finally putting all that time on the internet to good use.
So I'm challenging all of you to do good with that smart phone and help spread the word. I don't care if you find some fancy fruit to style up today at the farmers market or just pick up a bulb of garlic from your pantry...
...this is definitely something worth snapping for.
