Dairy-Free Matcha Green Tea & Black Sesame Pudding Spheres
It's the start of a new year and the desire to keep things healthy and simple is still pretty fresh in most of our minds as we try to form (and undoubtedly break) our new list of 2015 habits. We've partnered with the "Silk Helps You Bloom" campaign which is all about making easy choices and substitutions that are simple while helping us be the best we can be adding a little extra calcium and vitamin E into our diets. And what better way to do that with a super glam dessert that is so unbelievably effortless to make!? We thing this just might just knock your own socks off without missing any of the dairy (aka: zero guilt indulgence).
Lately we've been a little obsessed with black sesame and matcha desserts (can someone stop me from buying out this mochi shop please?!). So when Silk asked us to figure out an easy way to incorporate Almondmilk into a new year's routine, we immediately thought about these Japanese desserts.
Then again, we are always thinking about dessert in some form or another.
Dairy-Free Black Sesame Pudding
3 TBS Black Sesame Paste 5 tsp crushed black sesame seeds ½ cup granulated sugar 4 tsp agar agar (or 2 packet of Gelatin) 2 ½ cup Silk Almondmilk 1 Cup Coconut milk- Bring sugar, sesame paste, seeds and Almond Milk to a boil, stiring until all contents dissolve
- Once at a boil, add agar agar mixture and stir until dissolved
- Add Coconut milk, stir and remove from heat. Let mixture sit for 10-15 minutes until cool
- Pour into mold, (we used spherical ice cube trays) refrigerate overnight.
- Serve with a dusting of matcha green tea powder
Since pudding's texture can typically be a little lack luster, we topped our treats with a sprinkle of crushed black sesame seeds and a dusting of matcha powder to give them a little extra oomph in the mouth...and for the eyes.
Because let's be real, it's all about the presentation.
Dairy-Free Green Tea Matcha Pudding
1 ¼ cup Silk Almond Milk ⅓ cup coconut milk 4 TBS Matcha Powder 3 tsp agar agar (or 1 ½ packet of Gelatin)- Bring to a boil, turn off add agar agar, and stir until dissolved.
- Set aside to cool for 10-15 minutes. Pour into mold, (we used spherical ice cube trays) refrigerate overnight.
- Serve with a sprinkle of black sesame seed dust
Perhaps you're on the other hemi sweating out your summer and are in need for an unexpected iced treat?
WE GOT YOU! Use 1 tsp less agar agar powder in the recipes listed above and place your molds into the freezer over night for a delightful frozen dessert. We used these gem ice cube trays for a little extra glamour and visual wow....because who doesn't want to be eating a pile of sophisticatedly flavored jewels?!
Every day.
Our Black Sesame and Matcha obsession continues... in fact it's further fueled.
Using uniquely shaped ice cube molds (or any silicone food-safe shape you fancy), these elevated flavors in unexpected shapes really transform the commonplace existence of flavored pudding snacks. We're here to say that pudding is no longer for brown bag lunches or on-the go unnecessary sugar loading. It's about being down right luxurious while adding a little drama to your dinner party (or afternoon sweet toothing). And by using Silk Almondmilk as a substitute for any of your dessert cravings, it provides an excellent source of vitamin E without cholesterol or saturated fat and has no artificial colors, flavors or funny business lurking behind that creamy flavor.
Which is a resolution we're fine sticking with.
